Every SILCA Pre-Waxed Race Chain undergoes a comprehensive preparation process before it reaches your bike. Factory grease is completely removed using SILCA Chain Stripper, followed by ultrasonic cleaning to eliminate contaminants that can interfere with wax adhesion. The chain is then hot waxed using SILCA's Secret Chain Blend, creating a highly efficient, low-friction coating designed to reduce drivetrain losses and extend chain life.
Compared to standard treated chains, the process delivers up to 20% greater efficiency while improving wax durability by up to 30%. For ongoing performance, SILCA recommends topping up with Super Secret Chain Coating approximately every 240km and reapplying a full hot wax treatment every 1,300-1,600km.

After Every Ride
Wipe down the chain to remove dirt and debris.
Every 160 km
Apply one drop of Super Secret Chain Coating to each chain roller. Rotate the cranks backwards 10–12 times to work the coating into the chain, then allow it to dry. Wipe away any excess before riding.
Every 1,300–1,600 km
Remove the chain and clean it by dipping it in boiling water. Reapply Secret Chain Blend Hot Wax, allow the chain to fully cure, then reinstall and ride.
